    McPhaul Swinging Bridge to Nowhere
    Constructed in 1929, the McPhaul Swinging Bridge to Nowhere, originally named the Dome Bridge, was built to help people cross the Gila River. Since the river diversion in 1968, the bridge currently spans only sand and rocks. It is located 18 mi (29 km) north of Yuma on the I-95.

    Parker Dam
    This is the world's deepest dam and lies 7 mi (11 km) up river from Parker. During construction, workers had to dig down 235 ft (72 m) through the sand and gravel of the riverbed before hitting the bedrock needed to secure the foundation, but only the top third of the dam is now visible.
